Framing - A Work Of Art

18 November 2014

"...The most beautiful part of every picture is the frame" - Gilbert K. Chesterton

At 55MAX we make a huge range of frames from beautiful mirrored glass, to specialist, box display frames. We believe surrounding an image with the right frame can really bring it to life.

It's the finishing touch - the element that completes a piece of art, presenting it in the best possible light.

Choosing the right frame is important. It's an art in itself. Whilst a good frame choice can really enhance the appearance of a piece of art, a poor frame choice can taper the work. That's why we work with both the images and their settings to ideally express each individual piece of art, enriching the atmosphere of every space.

Framing has no rules - be adventurous. You don’t have to fall into the trap of choosing a frame to match others you already have. Some of the most incredible groups of paintings and images feature frames in a wide variety of styles, sizes and finishes.

Take a look at some of our bespoke frames for a little inspiration.

THE PARLOUR RESTAURANT, SOUTH KOREA

Along with an interior designer, 55MAX sourced 20 old Vogue Covers to match the interior from the 1930 to the 1950s for this restaurant in South Korea. The Interior Designer then had them all framed differently to match the interior creating a truly original Tea Parlour.

INTERIOR DESIGNER SERA HERSHAM-LOFTUS

55MAX worked with interior designer Sera Herham-Loftus to curate a collection of images for her hallway. It just goes to show - you really don't have to choose frames to match ones you already have. These frames, in a variety of styles, sizes and finishes, dramatically enhance her hallway.

PORTOBELLO LOFTS

55MAX sourced and printed these historic fashion images and framed them in our beautiful custom mirror frames for the Portobello Lofts development. These frames are an ideal way to display your photographs. Each frame is hand made and comes with a deep, extra wide mount to really set the image off.
