Creative Kid's Room Ideas
Posted on October 22 2015
Decorating your children's bedroom opens up a whole new world of exciting design possibilities. Whether it's a girls bedroom, a boy's bedroom or a nursery, it's the perfect excuse to be bold and creative, and add a bit of magic into a room.
A child’s surroundings can have a huge impact on how they grow and develop, so as parents we want to try to make our children’s living spaces as comfortable and fun as possible.
There are plenty of design options available, whether it's wallpaper, stickers or murals. Think pictures and bright, colourful artwork; beds that look like pirate ships, beanbags and storage. Bright colours, clashing prints and wacky art can also stir imagination and play: the decor rules can just about go out the window when it comes to a child’s bedroom!
But remember, as important as it is for a child’s room to be fun, it’s equally important that it is a place that is cosy and inviting, somewhere they will be able to sleep! So keep that in mind!
Let the kids have a say too. By allowing them to choose some of the furnishings and colours in their bedroom, it will bring out their creativity and personality - and it might help them even keep it clean! But keep your priorities in mind - comfort, safety, storage and play space should be key factors in the design process.
So where do you start? You start with a theme. Choose a theme that will maintain your children's interest (this is especially important if you don't want to find yourself re-decorating in a years time as they've outgrown it!). Whether it's themed TV characters, comic book heroes, the jungle, under the sea or space - there's an abundance of themes to choose from.
Be sure to also think about designs that could aid their learning. This way, your kid can have fun while learning. Feeling inspired? Which interior design would you like for your kids?
